An owl in a towel has no agenda except to exist in whatever state it's currently in. Not hiding it. Not pretending. Just: here I am, freshly rescued, wrapped in terry cloth, processing what comes next. These are real birds, by the way. Which somehow makes the faces even better.

The shocked one. The one that looks like it made a decision and is living with it. The tiny one who has already accepted everything. The one with the wide eyes that says "I am monitoring the situation and not thrilled about it." That's nine moods right there.
